The “O” in O.Pen may as well stand for OMG — it’s god’s gift to personal vaporizing and it’s O.utrageously good. In fact, I’m wracking my brain trying to think of a reason not to own one. So far, I’m coming up empty.
What’s not to like about:
The stealth factor: Take your O.Pen to airports, churches, sporting events, concerts, county fairs, PTA meetings, malls, movies, restaurants, bowling alleys and bars; no one’s the wiser after you sneak a quick hit.
The odorless factor: Seriously, you could toke on a plane and no one sitting around you would ever suspect you just expanded your mind.
The portability factor: Your O.Pen isn’t going to take up space or weigh you down on that climb from Everest base camp to the summit.
The convenience factor: Forget baggies and stash jars. Just twist different cannisters onto the holder, depending on your mood of the moment.
A ridiculous amount of strains: Which strains does Organa Labs offer? Perhaps the question should be, “which strains don’t they offer?” The line-up of strains offered in vape cartridges that dock with an O.Pen base is a veritable who’s-who of exotics culled from the four corners of the Earth. Available cartridges are tracked by leafly.com, making it ridiculously easy to find ones close to you — provided you live in Colorado, California or Washington as of this writing.
The fun factor: Each strain is packaged with a refrigerator magnet sure to impress friends, colleagues at work, and potential romantic conquests. Perhaps she’s on the fence about whether she’s really into you, spots your extensive collection of O.Pen refrigerator magnets, identifies you as one of her kind, relaxes, then surrenders on the spot.
Color-coded cartridges: Each vape cartridge is imprinted with a color-coded logo to quickly identify it as indica, sativa, or hybrid. Sweet!
The save-your-lungs factor: Many stoners have it in the back of their minds that there was some study conducted somewhere sometime which proved smoking marijuana like a human smokestack isn’t bad for your lungs. Thanks, but until pulmonologists transplant lungs, I’m not trusting my set to one study. Don’t know about you, but if I’m smoking instead of vaporizing, at 5280 feet I sure feel the effects when I’m hiking, swimming, singing, or even walking up stairs.
Many stoners have it in the back of their minds that there was some study conducted somewhere sometime which proved smoking marijuana like a human smokestack isn’t bad for your lungs. Thanks, but until pulmonologists transplant lungs, I’m not trusting my set to one study.
Stays charged indefinitely: This USB-charged device seems darn near eternal. Under light but daily use, mine remained charged a good six weeks. While the O.Pen is charging you watch, mesmerized, as tiny LEDs slowly turn from red to orange to green. You may find yourself asking, “How did they do that?”
Plenty of fuel in the tank: My favorite strain so far has been Jack Herer. While I only take about 5 hits a day, I’ve been afraid for months that any hit could be my last and that I’ll have to “settle” for strains some stoners would lick their way across Kansas to try. But the hits keep coming.
A smooth high: Vape cartridges are manufactured using Organa Labs’ big, honking, commercial CO2 extraction machines. Home-brewed extraction methods can’t touch Organa Labs’ extracted Honey Oil for purity, consistency, or balance. Hours after vaporizing, you’ll revert to a basically unmedicated state — unlike the body and mind effects that can linger after smoking (which sometimes you want, but sometimes you don’t).
Low Cost It’s free for the moment: O.Pen has been running a special promotion where if you purchase two 250 mg. vape cartridges [around $30 each], you get the vaporizer free. That was supposed to be for the first 10,000. Shhhhh — don’t tell anyone, but so far they’ve given away over 40,000!
The end of the pen serves as a smartphone or tablet stylus: Clever.
Lifetime no-questions-asked warranty: Just return your O.Pen to the store you bought it from for an instant exchange — whether your Rottweiler mistook it for a bone or not.
OK, I came up with a few things that aren’t “perfect.”
- You can’t smoke raw buds in one; that’s like saying you can’t snowboard with skis.
- You don’t get that junkie-like rush out of inhaling real smoke, the feeling that a substance has entered your bloodstream that’s gooey, gunky, stoney and skunky. Why not have the best of both worlds? When you want a rush, smoke … when you want all the advantages detailed above, vaporize.
- You miss the taste sensation only smoking can offer; on the other hand, you’ve got a buzz on that’s undetectable.
- Using an O.Pen won’t enable you to hang drywall with your mind.
What about the competition? Well, the AtmosRx and the Stratus personal vaporizers were fine for first-generation devices. But enterprising minds and manufacturers from a certain Asian land have had two years to top them.
Top them they have in three main ways:
- You no longer have to press a button before inhaling like you had to on the AtmosRx.
- The oval plastic tip on the O.Pen feels more natural between your lips than the round metallic tip on an AtmosRx.
- The O.Pen has a generous return policy.

When you get your medical marijuana card, your closest mmj dispensary where you buy your weed should have O.pens, cartridges ($60 here in Massachusetts) and Pax2s all of which I ‘high’ly recommend:)

Only one of the three strains that I’ve bought from local dispensaries, Sour Diesel, came with the refrigerator magnet. There wasn’t even any gummy residue on the cardboard where the magnet should be. Anyone know where else the magnets are available?

Uh-oh, I highly doubt the good folks at Organa Labs want to short change anyone on refrigerator magnets. I’d suggest sending an email to the Contact address at organalabs.com. If that doesn’t work, let me know and I’ll go over there with an assault weapon and liberate your magnets.

I just bought one yesterday and it works great. Except now I’m getting smaller hits than when I first bought it. Bought a 500mg cartridge and it was giving me thick vapor clouds. All of a sudden, it stopped hitting. Light on O.Pen was still turning on as normal but no vapor at all. I gave it a full charge and now it’s hitting, but the vapor is half the size. Not sure if there’s anything wrong with the cartridge or the pen. Gonna keep trying to see what happens.

I know that Organa Labs stopped manufacturing VapeCartridges in the 500mg size — we’re talking about an Organa Labs VapeCartridge, not another company’s right? — so you probably want to bring that up with the store you purchased it from. If they’re confused, I’d contact OrganaLabs at organalabs.com. If a 250mg cartridge works fine, it was the cartridge. If not, it’s the pen and that has a no-questions asked warranty. For the record, I don’t handle tech support for Organa Labs, but I’m happy to help within reason.

I had the same issue. It worked fine when i first got them, and then eventually there seemed to be obstructed airways. Upon further inspection, I saw that there was oil in the air chamber that bubbles up through it when I inhaled. Eventually they leak out through both the tip and threaded end. This has happened with almost 1/3 of my cartridges. From my last trip to the collective, 3 out of the 8 that I bought went bad like this, and they were added to the collection. I am relieved to find out that this is a manufacturer defect. When I mentioned that I had some leaky cartridges to the budtender who helped me, she just shrugged and said she had never heard of anything like that ever happening. When I bought 8 more and the same thing happened, I decided to google it, and found this message board. I love O-pen and I hope these issues can be worked out.

I found a YouTube video showing how to use a paper clip or likewise to lift the contacts on the battery and the cartridge so they will meet each other as they wont let the vapor thru if there’s not exact contact.
Also with poor taste, don’t let your liquid level go below the top of the wick because it will burn causing the bad taste. Also bits of the wick can fall into the heating element on some vape pens.
If anyone has the decarb temp & time for weed down to an exact art please post it as I’m still working on it. Tried 5g weed 245F for 1 h. Foil wrapped in ceramic dish with oven thermometer. Boiled in mason jar with 60/40 vg/pg (25ml total) 1/5 ratio. Not thrilled with result but my wicks were burnt. Sent for new empties at Amazon ($14) (compared to O.pen.com’s $35 price tag for the same amount of 5) yikes!

Hello All, love the questions and keep them coming, I will periodically jump on and answer any questions. Also, feel free to go to info@organalabs.com and ask me directly.
1. For infomation on where you can find an O.pen cartridge, simply text Openvape to 70000. Make sure your phone doesn’t auto correct this to something else! Follow the link and where to find an O.pen and it will provide you a map of participating centers based on your zip code or GPS location.
2. Where did you purchase without a magnet and we can get you set up with one or a few!
3. We currently offer in 250mg as well as 500mgs.
4. If your pen is not working properly, simply return it to the center you purchased it from and they will look at it and replace it on the spot if there is any issue. From what you have said, I cannot make an “ahh HAA” determination on it, so have someone check it out and maybe pop the cartridge on another (fully charged) battery and see if it starts hitting harder like you originally experienced.
5. We have some exciting new design ideas in the pipeline. Stay tuned for details on organalabs.com, leafly and cannabis commerce.

That’s made from trim and nasty stuff ..cloudpen for life
Lory Kohn says:
Apr 20, 2013
A Cloudpen is an entirely different beast from an O.Pen; the O.Pen works with tiny cannisters of liquefied weed that dock with the pen called vape cartridges; a Cloudpen you use with your own oil, shatter, wax, etc.
O.Pen = no muss, no fuss; Cloudpen = some muss, some fuss.
If a vape cartridge wasn’t made from trim, it would cost ten times as much … and after 16 hours of pulverization in an industrial CO2 extraction machine, neither you or anyone else on earth could tell if buds or trim were extracted.
Your “nasty stuff” crack is pure horseshit.

There is a complete explanation about PEG400 later in these comments. Read that and get back to us.
Also, please cite studies showing how harmful PEG400 is in the minute amounts that go into Vape Cartridges. Since you’re so convinced “polyethylene Glycol is nasty stuff,” that should be no problem for you since you must have formed an impression like that from reading highly reputable sources.
Next, please list all the foods and beverages you consumed in the past 24 hours and their complete ingredients lists so we can determine exactly what’s acceptable to you.

Polyethylene Glycol is in many drugs, vitamins, skin lotions and medical ointments, toothpastes, and many foods that contain Xantham Gum.
There is zero evidence that I’ve found that Polyethylene Glycol is dangerous in this application, and it certainly seems healthier than inhaling burning plant materials — which is known to cause excess phlegm production and can lead to COPD, especially for chronic smokers.
I’m wondering where you get your info from.

How do you know what you put onto the cloud wasn’t made from trim?
Lory Kohn says:
Dec 21, 2013
I don’t really understand your question but regarding whether there is a difference between extracts made from flowers and extracts made from trim, the answer is when all is said and done it doesn’t really make any difference, you still wind up with all the THC you want, and the manufacturer get good karma from recycling perfectly usable plant matter.
Also, oils made from flowers would cost three times without being one bit better. It’s simple chemistry. If you want to spend three times as much, hey, that’s your prerogative.
If we’re talking raw unextracted cannabis, flowers = much tastier than trim.
If we’re talking extracts/concentrates/oils/tinctures/waxes, flowers = trim.

Happy 420! Dude, it’s http://www.leafly.com/o.pen to find out where they’re sold; however, I’m not entirely sure they sell the pen by itself, though you could save yourself some time by asking at info@organalabs.com. I’ll point out that there’s a reason the original deal isn’t still going on 40,000 free pens later: the word of mouth about this combo is so good. I think you’ll be greatly surprised how long each cartridge lasts. I finally broke down and smoked actual buds for the first time in months in honor of the fact there’s so many cannabis tourists cruising around Denver for World Cannabis Week and I wanted to share their joy … but my throat and lungs are rebelling. Since prices have fallen from $450/oz to $150/oz lots of growers are paying less attention to curing and a lot of the raw buds are harsher than they used to be.

Wow, we don’t get too many comments from preacher’s wives — maybe Ralph will cut you a deal for the whole congregation!
A nice thing about the O.Pen I didn’t think about before people started asking me to review other pens is that it’s almost impossible to get a bad reaction from taking a huge hit; it’ll get you plenty high or medicated, but not too high or medicated. Other pens that require you to supply your own “oils” … you can’t really tell how high they’ll make you … you have no way of knowing what the THC percentage is for the “shatter” or other dab-type substances you have to select yourself. That’s a huge plus for folks who aren’t professional stoners.

I too have not smoked ” bud” sice my first O pen..that’s right I said first..not only have I been offered a free pen everytime I have purchased 2 cartridges, you can also buy a pen for a measly ten bucks if you do not buy any cartridges. And this has been the case with all stores I have gone to in Colorado Springs. Leaky cartridge? No prob..return for exchange, love the 500mg bargain price and the 250mg when trying new strains.. Cannot say enough good things..no more worrying about tell tale odors, transporting stash, medicating is now simple easy and every hit is a first hit. Yummy!

Hi Lory,
What I like about the O.Pen is that it is petite, personal, and practical.
As a senior I want to medicate discreetly. My O.Pen is small enough that I do not draw attention to myself so I can use it whenever I need to medicate.
Secondly, I share with seniors in my book, “The Seniors’ Guide to Medical Marijuana,” to be careful sharing pipes and joints during the cold and flu season. The O.Pen lets me enjoy a personal medication experience and still enjoy my experience as the majority of my friends also use an O.Pen. We share enjoyable times, not nasty germs.
Lastly the O.Pen is practical. No papers, glassware, lighters. Just the O.Pen…it is easy to locate, use, and store. In fact, currently, my O.Pen is ready for bed, safely tucked underneath my pillow for when I need it.
Thanks Organa Labs for the O.Pen!

How do I know if my O.Pen is working right? I expected much more of a hit from the device. I suck on it for fifteen minutes and barely catch a buzz. How is the light supposed to work? mine comes on momentarily and then goes off as I draw. Have they changed the way the indicator light works in later models? I see comments about a red light or even green, but mine is nothing but white. Thanks.
Lory Kohn says:
May 4, 2013
Hey Tim, yes Organa Labs is constantly tweaking all components of the O.Pen in an effort to make it the best it can be and more appealing for different fashion tastes … meaning some pens will have different led lighting schemes and different charging colors — for example, I have one pen with the colored led I described in the review and another with an all-white led like yours. Speaking of charging, either yours isn’t fully charged or it needs to be exchanged. I’d charge it for a long time like overnight and if that doesn’t do the trick, get an exchange from your retailer.
btw an Organa Labs rep is going to hop on next week and offer further clarification.

TM,
It sounds to me as if you have a defective pen. Please return it to the retailer from which you purchased for an exchange. I do apologize for any hassle that it has caused. The light is supposed to stay lit got 8-10 seconds indicating that the pen is vaporizing. The device automatically turns itself off after that 8-10 second pull. The retailer should also be able to answer any additional questions you may have or you can direct them to me! Thank you for you business!`
Daniel - OL Sales Manager says:
May 15, 2013
TM,
When people talk about a red and green light they are referring to the USB charger. The USB charger will light up red and turn green when it is all charged and ready to go. If you do have a faulty device please return it to the dispensary where you bought it for an exchange. Thank you very much for your business and support!

Hey Lory, really appreciate your information you have been posting. Been buying the 250ml cartridges for about 3 moths now. Prob bought a total of 25 cartridges now. I’ve noticed that about half of the cartridges have an awkward metal piece in the threaded male tip where it screws on the pen. It seems like if the metal part is protruding from the threaded portion, it is easier to pull and works much better. When they fail halfway through or are defective from the get go, I get a giant hit of what tastes like plastic or something of the sort. I’ve exchanged the problem items with NO QUESTION whatsoever from my dispensary. I’m not complaining, as this is easily the best item I’ve ever bought, but I was wondering what exactly I am inhaling when I get a plastic hit as I have done MANY times?? Just like to know if I’m causing more harm than the reason I moved on to vaping. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Lory Kohn says:
May 5, 2013
Hey Anthony, I’d really be faking it if I tried to answer this one. Organa Labs is gonna hop back on this thread, probably tomorrow, so check back for the official answer. This is a pure guess, I repeat I’m definitely guessing, but if you went through 25 cartridges in 3 months you probably smoke with a lot of different people [or I may name you Cannabis Commerce Stoner of the Year if you’re the sole toker!] … one of whom may be a little hard on handling vape cartridges. Then again, maybe you’ve identified an area where Organa Labs could improve the pen. Let’s see what they have to say, and thanks for letting everyone know your experience.

Lory Kohn says:
May 15, 2013
Hey Ty, 30-35 bucks seems about right. I’m a lightweight compared to some of you guys as I have to compete with big time reporters and economists and I’d like to imagine I could do that after I went through a cartridge in a day and half, but I would probably write total gibberish if I did. Update: It appears a batch of leaky vape cartridges have made it to market — which may explain the problems Anthony, Ty and Kirsten are having. Organa Labs head honcho Ralph M. is in China right now working on quality control and new product launches [stay tuned — anyone who doesn’t live in Colorado, Washington, or California will be particularly interested].
If you have experienced a leaky vape cartridge[s], that’s also a no questions asked exchange. So don’t be shy about taking these back to the dispensary where you purchased it/them.
I can’t guarantee anything, but I’m going to see if I can persuade Ralph to check in from China and give you a better update than I can.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply gents. I looked at my cartridge and yeah there is a crack in it. I know the guys I buy from very well but still feel shady if I bring that back too. Smoke hurts my lungs with all these chem jacked hydros here in Washington. This is an amazing product ty. Sorry one other thing. Is the burnt taste from the cartridge leaking then?
Lory Kohn says:
May 15, 2013
Organa Labs has contacted every dispensary that distributes the O.Pen and vape cartridges about this, so the guys you buy from already know about it. It will be a no-stress exchange and you would be helping insure quality control for others.
Smoke hurting your lungs could be chem jacked hydros or just plain bad curing — or both! Bad curing is running rampant because ounces used to cost $450 and now they cost $150 and corners are being cut. If weed is improperly cured, it tends to barbeque throats and lungs. There’s too much of that going around, unfortunately.

I concur with your diagnosis, but you are not exactly SOL since every single person who has had a problem with their pen or their cartridge has received a no-questions asked replacement. There’s just one thing I’d like Organa Labs to comment on: can leaky cartridges kill O.Pens?
Daniel - OL Sales Manager says:
May 30, 2013
Leaky cartridges could possibly affect the O. pen performance. Has oil actually gotten down into the connection where the cartridge connects to the battery? Please try to charge the device fully and if you continue to have problems please return your O. pen to the retailer where you purchased it to receive a replacement. I would like to thank you for your support and continued patronage. Also, we value your concerns and comments so that we can improve upon our products daily! Thank you

Hey Nate, I’m still waiting to hear back from Organa Labs on that very question. I’ve personally had like a dozen different O.Pens and like twenty or so cartridges without experiencing a failure. However, I gave one to my daughter, and hers leaked and died [but not before converting her to a semi-stoner, finally, because it helped her headaches and helped her to sleep], and I gave one to a girlfriend, and it leaked and died, too [but not before Wheelchair Kush enabled her to sleep deeply for a change, too]. Hmm. I’m hoping for an official statement from Organa Labs. Stay tuned. It does kinda seem like if a cartridge leaks it can take the pen with it.

Thanks for all the great feedback! Questions may also be directed to info@organlabs.com. Strains and shop info can be found at Leafly.com. @Nate, a leaky cartridge should not render a battery usless. However, if that is the case, go to the shop you bought it from and return it for a replacement. Keep you’re eyes open for some new exciting products that will launch soon! Happy holiday weekend!

Ok, So I love my pen but I am getting frustrated out of 10 cartridges i have had 4 with problem 1 leaky, 1 would’nt hit, 1 was cracked and now I have one that either wont hit or will hit awesome and smoke will come out at the connection with the battery. The most recent one where smoke was coming out at the connection i put in old cartridges after and for a while they did the same thing…The pen worked fine until then seems to be fine half the time now and half the time not.
Going back to exchange or return things is just getting frustrating I took it on a trip this weekend and the cartridge I had messed up was super bummed!
Is this normal???? i have yet to read about other people having smoke come out at the connection!

Kelsey,
Thank you for sharing your experience.
I am tempted to apologize for Organa Labs, but I am not going to do that. I thought we’d get a broader statement from them than what we’ve got so far. I am going to ask them one last time for a detailed response, cause they have told me a few things in confidence that if I was them I would be passing on to their customers.
All I will say is that this is the dawn of the personal vaporizer era. It is not a mature technology. Obviously when it works, it’s a great thing. I know that Ralph from Organa Labs just went to China in an effort to ramp up the quality control among other things — though it would be better to hear about it from him.

I think it would be awesome if on the O.pen website they had like a trouble shooting or common problems and fixes type information.
I do love that they do honor the warranty they have.
I also am up in WA we have a few places that sell it and I really wish the My.flyer offers where good in WA as well. Especially since they seem to push that website/app but all the offers are only honored in CO.

I’ve been using this vape for a couple weeks and now that the cartridge is running low (and I’m still trying to puff it) the lights are blinking… As far as I’ve been reading this thread it seems like blinking is not a good thing at all, right? Or could it just be that the cartridge is done and I should just replace it? Thanks!
Daniel - OL Sales Manager says:

That is awesome that you have been using your cartridge for a couple weeks before it ran low!!! That is one of the reasons why I love this product!! Blinking lights mean that you need to fully charge your battery before using it again. If you continue to have the blinking light issue please return the pen to the retailer where you purchased it so they can replace it for you under our No Hassle return policy. Thank you for your business and I hope you enjoy your cartridges! Happy Vaping!

I was introduced to the O-Pen from a friend and wanted one of my own right away. I went through quite an ordeal just to get my hands on one, absolutely loved it for 10 days, but then it stopped working. It’s great that they’ll respect the warranty and replace it, but it sucks that I’m driving another hour and a half just 10 days after purchase. It’s worth it, but I wish they’d stop selling faulty devices.

The O. Pens come from the manufacturer partially charged. Many retailers charge the device fully before selling to the consumer. If you are having issues with your device please try to fully charge it and try again. Many issues can be resolved by giving your device a full charge. If you seem to be still having issues please return the device to the retailer where you purchased for a no hassle return. Thank you for your patronage!

Kelsey, I’m glad you brought this up. I’m guessing it has to do with consistency of the oil itself. I’ve bought around 30 250ml cartridges and every one varies drastically. I even put up a 250mg Hybrid up to a 500mg Indica and they were at the same level. I’m guessing they are varying weights. Damian,
If you look at the post from Lory on June 18th you will see a statement that OrganaLabs has prepared about the use of PEG. That should answer all of your questions but feel free to ask any additional ones as they come up. I also sympathize about not being able to get the last little bit of oil out of the cartridge – I always want to get every last minute drop of oil of my cartridges! But as they say, all good things must come to an end! But don’t worry we will make more! I am so sorry to hear that your area has been shut down – I hope that there is an area close to you so you can shop. Hello folks,
Ralph here from OrganaLabs joining you to answer some questions regarding the Open.
First, KELSEY, your suggestion of trouble shooting on the website is a great one and also one that we are working on. I will make sure that this is done sooner than later. Also, we are working on a YouTube Video. Regarding few spots in Washington, our licensee and distributor of OrganaLabs for Washington, Sound Co2, is in the process of expanding their beautiful facility and as we speak installing additional co2 extraction equipment which means they will be serving additional centers soon!
To find a location near you, you can always text Openvape to 70000 and give permission for the app to snag your gps location or simply enter a zip code. Either case, you will get a map with the closest locations to you.
KELSEY, regarding promotions with the MiFlyer, those are state specific as well as pricing. Since the raw material fluctuates state to state, the retail price does as well.
Second, failures. The Open is the most successful and reliable vape on the market. That being said, approx. 2% of the pens and cartridges fall under the returned category. Some of these are operator error, but the lion’s share is simply quality control issues which we work on profoundly.
Recently, we had a much higher failure rate on the new clearer style cartridges. Our manufacturer experimented with a new material that resulted in beautiful clear cartridges but then cracked easily and were brittle. We pulled these and have survived the experience which taught us much.
We try hard to be the quality leader and have a no hassle return policy that tries to takes care of everyone. If you experience something different, please let us know and give us the opportunity to fix it.
Thanks for all of the kuddos, and your loyalty, we appreciate it and are looking forward to offering some exciting things in the immediate future, including the smallest and sexiest wax pen on the market!
KELSEY/ANTHONY, We now have two sizes of cartridges, the 250s are now SHORTER than the 500s so they both are full when full. Before, the 250 was simply a half full cartridge. I can’t explain but can offer these scenarios for the 3/4 full cartridge. Either a too full 250 in an old 500 cartridge, a not full enough 500, or the obvious which ANTHONY, you pointed out different weight which is correct. Also, color changes from stain and batch.
Sincerely,
Ralph@organalabs.com or for a faster response,

Hi Ralph. Great product. I just sent an email to organa labs about an issue I had with two of your 500mg cartridges leaking out. They were purchased at the awesome Berkeley Patients Group and then taken up to about 8000ft elevation in the Sierras. Hindsight being what it is, I know some ink pens leak and bags of potato chips inflate when taken up to higher elevations. Figured I would post here to see if anyone else experienced this in similar conditions?

JoeL, Please note that in the review when I offered the image of taking an O.Pen from Everest base camp to the summit, that was me talking up portability, not Organa Labs guaranteeing flawless vape cartridge performance at 8,000 feet and above! I like to over-deliver in reviews, but I confess that I didn’t actually summit Everest and toke an O.Pen in celebration — though if you told me that if I did global prohibition would be repealed, I’d start training today! I believe Organa Labs addresses high altitude concerns in their forthcoming FAQs.

Had the exact same issues! Took to Eastern Sierras just under 8000ft recently. Three of the five 500mg cartridges had major leaking issues. One of the cartridges that did not leak was connected to the o pen, and it was also a cartridge that I’m pretty sure was filled by the dispensary here at sea level (as opposed to being filled by OrganaLabs). How were your leaking cartridges stored? Mine were sealed/capped in in the little tubes & the end of the cartridge itself also had the little rubber seal over it. I’m wondering if I just had them loose & uncapped would help to allow pressure to be released?
Also, would the cold have a detrimental effect on the cartridges? It got down to 20 F at night, with the house getting down to probably 55-60 F at the lowest – the oil was nearly solid when I checked in the morning. Has anyone else had similar experiences? Anyone spoken with O Pen or Organa Labs?

I’m not exactly sure why you’d expect Organa Labs to give you tips on the care and feeding of counterfeit vape cartridges. You may or may not have noticed that Organa Labs is an advertiser here on Cannabis Commerce and/or that I happen to like the people who work there and the innovative products they make.
It is true that the effed up situation where companies like Organa Labs can’t sell across state lines forces some otherwise reputable folks into unusual behavior like knocking off vape cartridges. So I’m not completely unsympathetic to your plight. But this site and this thread is not the place for people to discuss how to improvise vape cartridges for use with O.Pens.
This is the right site for people to try and remedy that effed up situation by banding together to repeal prohibition. Have you noticed there are many articles here devoted to that cause?
The real problem is not what happens to knockoff vape cartridges at 8,000 feet, it’s how do you get genuine Organa Labs vape cartridges where you live. That’s going to take a certain amount of activisim. One way to be active is to comment on articles about repealing prohibition or the problems with state-by-state legalization.
If you leave an intelligent comment on another article, I’ll comply with your request to remove your post(s). I can’t remove your avatar. I made the same offer to the last guy who asked about counterfeit vape cartridges and then wished he hadn’t. He didn’t accept the offer. Your call.

Lory – Please read my comment in its entirety. Your comment seems to address points that I did not make.
First, I did not ask for tips on the care and feeding of counterfeit vape cartridges. If you read my comment, you’d notice that the “counterfeit” cartridge was NOT one of those that leaked, so I was in no way inquiring about that one. Of the four genuine OrganaLabs cartridges that I had, three leaked. Reading my comment above, you can see those are the subject matter at hand. Further, I asked if anyone had similar experiences and inquired how Joel had his cartridges packaged, and if anyone had spoken to OrganaLabs. Never did I ask, “Hey OrganaLabs, WHY IZ YOU BREAKING?!! GIVE ME FREE CARTRIDGES!”
Second, there was no discussion about how to improvise vape cartridges for use with O.Pens, nor was there any request for tips on the care and feeding of counterfeit vape cartridges. None. So I’m not entirely sure where you picked that up from. The only question was how others had packaged their cartridges WITH THE PACKAGING THAT COMES FROM ORGANALABS – i.e., left capped, in the tube, etc.
Third, the Eastern Sierras are in California, so there was no issue about being in a different state than one that OrganaLabs distributes in. The only reason I had a “counterfeit” cartridge was that was all the caregiver was able to procure at that time, and we have since discontinued using that collective’s services.
Fourth, you are correct in this instance: the real problem is not what happens to knockoff vape cartridges at 8,000 feet. However, you are incorrect in asking how do I get genuine OrganaLabs cartridges where I live. If my comment was fully read, you would see that the “counterfeit” cartridge was not one that leaked – it was three OrganaLabs cartridges that leaked – and did so in California, where OrganaLabs cartridges are (thankfully & fortunately!!) distributed.
Lastly, requiring someone to leave a comment on another article, basically extorting someone by saying you won’t erase the comment unless they do what you ask, doesn’t really seem to jive and fit in with the cannabis community & anti-prohibition community. But hey, if you wish to have those vibes, your call.
You wrote a review for a cannabis product that allows for comments – Please realize that people Google key words, i.e., “o.pen + elevation problems,” “o.pen + review”, etc., and naturally end up on pages like this discussing the issues they are having with the product(s) in the comments.
Instead of making assumptions and chastising people for discussing the issues they are having, maybe you should encourage the anti-prohibition movement by being a bit more positive and simply encouraging others to check out the anti-prohibition articles & to get involved. I get that you are against counterfeit products, as am I, but you may wish to take a more positive tact if your main goal is stopping prohibition.
I have been genuinely interested in the anti-prohibition movement and love your enthusiasm. I just think you may be tired of people discussing their O.Pen issues on this page, so I’m sorry for adding another – but, again, this is an O.Pen Review, not an anti-prohibition article, so you must take that into account when considering what type of comments you are going to receive on this article.
In my comment, there was no discussion about counterfeit cartridges. The subject matter was purely asking about elevation issues. If you read my comment, the ONLY mention of a “counterfeit” cartridge was that it was one of the ones that DID NOT leak, so obviously the questions about elevation issues would not pertain to it.
If you have any questions or would like any help/assistance in any way with this site & the anti-prohibition movement, particularly within legal areas, please let me know. I would love to assist with any research/writing. You should be able to contact me via the e-mail address I left in the last post. Thank you.

—see comments below …
“Lory – Please read my comment in its entirety. Your comment seems to address points that I did not make.”
—That would be because recently the conversation has turned toward how to counterfeit vape cartridges. There have been some comments that were so blatant about it I didn’t even allow those. Those were all in my mind when I read your comment. So, you’re right, my reaction wasn’t just to your comment.
“First, I did not ask for tips on the care and feeding of counterfeit vape cartridges. If you read my comment, you’d notice that the “counterfeit” cartridge was NOT one of those that leaked, so I was in no way inquiring about that one. Of the four genuine OrganaLabs cartridges that I had, three leaked.”
—There is no doubt that some vape cartridges leak by themselves (less than 2%, but they do). There is also no doubt that some people handle them too roughly, which is why they leak. Even getting jostled around in a purse can cause problems. They are made of glass. Note I didn’t say you handled yours too roughly. Just that some people do.
“Reading my comment above, you can see those are the subject matter at hand.
—Mentioning the counterfeit cartridge was what sent up the red flag.
“Second, there was no discussion about how to improvise vape cartridges for use with O.Pens, nor was there any request for tips on the care and feeding of counterfeit vape cartridges. None. So I’m not entirely sure where you picked that up from.”
—See my first answer above. It’s only recently that comments about improvising vape cartridges have started appearing.
“The only question was how others had packaged their cartridges WITH THE PACKAGING THAT COMES FROM ORGANALABS – i.e., left capped, in the tube, etc.
Third, the Eastern Sierras are in California, so there was no issue about being in a different state than one that OrganaLabs distributes in. The only reason I had a “counterfeit” cartridge was that was all the caregiver was able to procure at that time, and we have since discontinued using that collective’s services.”
—Thank you for clarifying that.
“Fourth, you are correct in this instance: the real problem is not what happens to knockoff vape cartridges at 8,000 feet. However, you are incorrect in asking how do I get genuine OrganaLabs cartridges where I live. If my comment was fully read, you would see that the “counterfeit” cartridge was not one that leaked – it was three OrganaLabs cartridges that leaked – and did so in California, where OrganaLabs cartridges are (thankfully & fortunately!!) distributed.”
—I apologize for lumping your comment in with comments people made recently from Non-MMJ states. I’ll also reiterate that when I lightheartedly wrote about taking O.Pens up Mt. Everest in the review I was talking about the portability factor, that it would fit in a pack and not take up much weight — not that it would work in freezing conditions or at altitude or do well if it was packed in such a way it could be jostled around by heavier items in a pack (once again I’m not implying that’s what you did … but some people do).
“Lastly, requiring someone to leave a comment on another article, basically extorting someone by saying you won’t erase the comment unless they do what you ask, doesn’t really seem to jive and fit in with the cannabis community & anti-prohibition community. But hey, if you wish to have those vibes, your call.”
—This gets to the root of feelings I’m having lately. The clearly stated aim of Cannabis Commnerce is to help everybody in every country buy “weed” legally and without facing stigmas. But many people seem to only care about their own problems. It is true that I hope people that come to this site care about helping other people. Commenting on articles about eliminating prohibition helps other people. Me taking your comment down helps you. The review itself helped you. So what are you willing to do to help me and other people? When I asked you to help other people, you find something off with those “vibes.” Then, in your otherwise intelligent comment (which I appreciate you taking the time to write) you equate requesting a helpful comment on a serious article with “extortion.” What am I missing? Is helping others really that foreign of a concept?
“You wrote a review for a cannabis product that allows for comments – Please realize that people Google key words, i.e., “o.pen + elevation problems,” “o.pen + review”, etc., and naturally end up on pages like this discussing the issues they are having with the product(s) in the comments.”
—Fair enough.
“Instead of making assumptions and chastising people for discussing the issues they are having, maybe you should encourage the anti-prohibition movement by being a bit more positive and simply encouraging others to check out the anti-prohibition articles & to get involved.”
—Re-read the comments and you’ll notice that I did that recently. Not only didn’t I get many comments, but the conversation has turned toward counterfeiting cartridges. I am human and find that disappointing.
“I get that you are against counterfeit products, as am I, but you may wish to take a more positive tact if your main goal is stopping prohibition.”
“I have been genuinely interested in the anti-prohibition movement and love your enthusiasm. I just think you may be tired of people discussing their O.Pen issues on this page,”
—Sometimes there’s more “me me me” than I prefer in what I envision as an altruistic site.
“so I’m sorry for adding another – but, again, this is an O.Pen Review, not an anti-prohibition article, so you must take that into account when considering what type of comments you are going to receive on this article.”
—Also fair enough.
“In my comment, there was no discussion about counterfeit cartridges. The subject matter was purely asking about elevation issues. If you read my comment, the ONLY mention of a “counterfeit” cartridge was that it was one of the ones that DID NOT leak, so obviously the questions about elevation issues would not pertain to it.

I would love to assist with any research/writing. You should be able to contact me via the e-mail address I left in the last post. Thank you.”
—Some of your points are well-taken. As someone who grew up during successful national activist movements like Civil Rights and Vietnam Protests I have a hard time accepting the slow-paced state-by-state legalization process because it penalizes companies like Organa Labs for introducing great products that can’t cross state lines — not to mention all the people who would benefit from vaporizers. But you’re right, maybe the comments section of an O.Pen review is not the best place to editorialize.
—On the other hand, someone has to point out the real problems. Maybe I don’t do it with perfect tact, or say things in the exact right place, but some things have to be said and I’ve already talked myself blue in the face writing incredibly long articles exposing plenty of things that no one else took the time to expose. So the editorializing winds up in the comments section of O.Pen reviews.

Lory –
Just wanted to say thank you for addressing everything as you did below. I could not reply to your last comment so I responded here.
I didn’t want to come off as rude or anything, I just didn’t want you thinking I was just here to try to figure out counterfeit vape cartridges!
I think a lot of people want to try filling the cartridge themselves for whatever reason, be it they want their own product, want a “more potent” product, think it will be cheaper to fill with their own product, etc. I’m not sure if this is what you’re referring to as the counterfeits, as I had heard a rumor that O.Pen/OrganaLabs was selling fillable cartridges and thus one would think that O.Pen/OrganaLabs was OK with people filling their own. This was just what I had heard, though – a rumor. I’m not entirely sure on the technology, though, and was under the impression that OrganaLabs fills the cartridges with a specific mixture of the PEG with CO2 oil that allows for a specific droplet spray size, and one would mess up that sizing if they filled it themselves.
Re: comment/extortion topic – I think I interpreted your comment as “Write another comment or else I won’t take it down!” instead of how you meant I should contribute elsewhere on the site in a constructive fashion. Sorry, I should have taken my own advice & shouldn’t have assumed!
Thank you again, though, for your response & work here. My offer to help contribute still stands – I would love to help write for the site or anti-prohibition movement.

Regarding the rumor that OL is coming out with a pen that people can fill themselves … let’s just say the nimble marketing minds at OL never rest.
Regarding your offer to write for Cannabis Commerce … well, there may some products in the pipeline to review designed to accomomodate “more potent” forms of THC like shatter/dabs. I don’t do well with superhigh THC substances when they get up over 50% — sometimes leaving your body can be inconvenient depending on where you left it — so I may be asking here for volunteers to cover them. Stay tuned!

First off, I have had the pleasure of using an O.Pen Vape once and it was amazing! But I too, like Damian, would like to know more about the PEG (Polyethylene Glycol) that the oil is cut with. Little is known about how the inhalation of such products affects the human body. Ralph, how much research/testing have you guys at Organa done on this? Thanks!

The following is reprinted from a document Organa Labs has prepared for its site, organalabs.com:
PEG 400 Safety — An Open Letter From Organa Labs’ Ralph Morgan
Organa Labs has always been committed to purity, consistency, and balance. That philosophy is reflected in every product we make. We honor it every day, sourcing only the finest organic ingredients and pharmaceutical-grade chemicals for use in our formulations.
We feel you have every right to know what you put in your body. And that the more discriminating you are, the more you’ll appreciate the standards we set for our products.
Recently, some competitors have questioned the choice of PEG 400 as an excipient [“an inactive substance that serves as the vehicle or medium for a drug or other active substance”] in our vape cartridges. Please allow me a few moments of your time to personally address those concerns.
Why PEG 400? Chemists have discovered that PEG 400 has the ideal viscosity [“the state of being thick, sticky, and semi-fluid in consistency due to internal friction”] for use in personal vaporizers where temperatures often exceed 300 degrees farenheit. It’s used to thin the herbal formulations, enabling them to heat quicker and turn into vapor faster. You experience that as a satisfying hit after you draw on an O.Pen.
PEG is an abbreviation for polyethylene glycol. PEGs come in molecular weights appropriate for use in a variety of applications. These molecular weights are represented by numbers starting at 100 and ranging upwards of 8,000; PEG 400 has proven to be the “sweet spot” for personal vaporizers.
Confusion stems from the fact that pharmaceutical-grade polyethylene glycol can be easily be mistaken for ethylene glycol — an industrial-grade chemical used in antifreeze that’s altogether different in molecular weight, structure and toxicity.
Implying that pharmaceutical grade polyethylene glycol is the same substance as industrial grade ethylene glycol because the words look similar is like implying that “horror” is the same thing as “humor” or that “elephantitis” is the same thing as “elephants.”
Our competitors’ insinuate that Organa Labs heartlessly employs a toxic substance without regard to customer safety.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, due in part to its low toxicity, PEG 400 is widely used for a variety of medical applications including infant inhalers. It’s been shown to prevent rejection of transplanted organs and it smooths the introduction of titanium rods into the body when repairing broken bones.
Additionally, while we’re not going to tell you that it’s a perfect institution, the FDA has fully endorsed PEG 400 as a GRAS ― Generally Regarded As Safe ― substance. “Generally” means that if you or your dog lapped up a bowlful of PEG 400 like some dogs have lapped up ethylene glycol in the past, unpleasant consequences could occur.
However, under normal operating conditions ― taking a few puffs from a personal vaporizer ― not only are our vape Cartridges perfectly safe, they’re the preferred delivery system for tens of thousands of customers seeking the maximum medicinal benefits from THC. Our patient list includes umpteen cancer patients supremely conscious of every last molecule they put into their bodies.
But don’t just take my word for it; the safety of PEG 400 in personal vaporizers is supported by numerous studies, including the ones linked to below:
http://www.clariant.com/C125720D002B963C/picklist/C0EB1376B40AC1C9C125726500432C94/$file/Polyethylene_glycols_%28PEGs%29_and_the_pharmaceutical_industry.pdf*
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC185333/
http://dmd.aspetjournals.org/content/35/1/9.full
I trust that this explanation substantiates our confidence that judicious use of carefully-sourced pharmaceutical-grade PEG 400 in personal vaporizers is 100% safe.
Customer safety has been and will always continue to be priority #1 at Organa Labs. We will continue to strive for utmost purity even though the states we currently sell vape cartridges in ― Colorado, Washington, and California don’t require it.
Can our competitors say the same?
Thank you for the opportunity to speak directly with you about this matter. If you have any further questions or concerns whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to contact me personally at Ralph@organalabs.com.

Joel,
I responded already to your inquiry via info@organalabs, but I wanted to also address your observation and experience here, since you posted. We HAVE reported issues related to altitude. In Colorado, we have terrible luck transporting over 11,500ft. What has fixed that issue is a pressurized case that allows us or a delivery service to travel over high altitudes without the negative effects. The potato chip bag is the perfect explanation of what is occurring and ruining an otherwise fine day for folks. In California, I understand that you went from Sea Level to 8000 ft, a delta that is much greater than Denver’s Mile High status to 11,500ft so I am not surprised to learn of the outcome. You are however the first to share the experience, and we are wiser for it.
We are collecting most common concerns and responses to them so that we can post online and I will post here as well when the results of this ongoing effort become available online.
Sincerely,
Ralph

O-pen vape pens as the pre filled cartridges
these are cut with Vegetable Glycerin- the effects of which smoking/vaping have not been done and imo its not safe to ingest into your lungs,,, worse than bho imo

Love my O pen and the variety of strains no complaint

Mr Mayanweed- We do not use vegetable glycerin in any way in our cartridges. I know it is common in the world of e-cigs – but we use pharmaceutical grade polyethelene glycol. Please see the above post dated June 18th for more information on PEG. Thank you for your business and happy vaping!

Please start using VG instead of PEG. For the last 3 weeks I have been having the worst allergic reactions to the PEG in your cartridges. All of my muscles and joints have been in constant pain, my tonsils are swollen, and my tongue has been numb for days. After searching the web I found a lot posts from people experiencing the same symptoms after vaping PG/PEG based liquids. You guys have a great product and I wish I could continue to use it, but it is killing me.

About how many puffs on average do you get from each 250/500 mg cartridge?
Lory Kohn says:
Jul 1, 2013
Mine just seem to keep going and going for months of light use [five hits a day or so]; that said, some readers with a lot of want-to, a lot of pain, or both drain a cartridge in a couple of days. Your mileage will probably be somewhere in between. Note that this thread is now five months and 90 comments long and no one has said they felt short-changed.
Daniel - OL Sales Manager says:
Jul 1, 2013
J – You can expect to get upwards of 100 plus puffs from a 250mg cartridge and 200 plus puffs from a 500mg cartridge. Of course the way you use your pen has an impact on these numbers. If you have the lungs of Michael Phelps and time the device out(a full 9 second hit) each and every time you use your O.pen then you can expect far less than that. Thank you for your business!!!

Love my Open! I have tried 2-3 dozen cartridges and have made a couple observations. i have gotten 2 that were mislabelled. I purchased a hybrid strain yet the symbol on the cart was purple which is an indica. Also, I have noticed a large variation in how full the carts are. I have compared several carts of one strain and some are much fuller.
Lory Kohn says:

Hey David, I have to first reiterate that I do not work for Organa Labs nor am I authorized to speak for them. But, as an observation, I’d point out that we’re still in the dawn of the personal vaporizer revolution. It is not mature technology, although, as you can probably tell, OL is dedicated to advancing the technology as quickly as they can. I have been to their facility many times and I can report that humans, not machines, fill all the cartridges. There is no assembly line — I’m talking about the cartridges made in Denver or licensed facilities in California and Washington, not the pens manufactured in China.
As several reps from OL have already testified [I know it’s hard to read 90 comments!], cartridges are filled by weight, not to a certain line … which explains the variation you describe.
Regarding the mislabeling, once again humans are at work. The O.Pen is such a “hit product” that OL is working round the clock to fill all the orders in a timely manner. A few mislabeled cartridges must have slipped through the cracks, or the wrong cartridge was placed in the package. Given time to catch up on orders, I’m confident things will run more like clockwork as time goes by. OL’s owners are meticulous, compulsive types who won’t stop until they do.
Another thing to consider is that the O.Pen itself is a $10 semi-disposable item; it has never been billed as a precision instrument. If it was a $200 precision instrument, that would bring up it’s own set of problems, the most obvious being many people would have to think long and hard about buying one instead of the purchase being a “no-brainer.” Can you imagine losing one? A pen-sized item is awfully easy to lose or misplace!
I feel the depth of OLs’ participation on this thread indicates 100% commitment to making their personal vaporizing products the absolute best and most reliable they can be at their price points. They appreciate your feedback, by the way, as do I. So keep it coming!
Daniel - OL Sales Manager says:

Thank you for your support and for your business! I would also like to point out that our cartridges are not filled to a certain line or mark on the cartridge, but rather by weight. Also, if you are comparing a 250mg to a 500mg cartridge then you will for sure see a difference as there is a different amount of oil in each strength. What has been your favorite strain thus far?

Is there somewhere in Washington state where I can buy the prefilled cartridges?? I am having a shitty time trying to fill the thing myself. Help from Olympia,Washington Indica girl
Lory Kohn says:
Jul 1, 2013
Dear Indica Girl — Yes, I can imagine that trying to refill the cartridges yourself is quite challenging! That’s kind of like trying to mold your own tires for your car!
Regarding where to purchase vape cartidges near you, try this: “To find a location near you, you can always text Openvape to 70000 and give permission for the app to snag your gps location or simply enter a zip code. Either case, you will get a map with the closest locations to you.”
There’s also http://www.leafly.com/o.pen.
Alternatively, if you’re psychic powers are strong enough and you visualize indica cartridges in your mind, you’ll soon notice a carrier pigeon fluttering outside your window with your order in its little backpack.

I have a cartridge of Blue Berry and one of Humbolt Reserve. The one has a much thicker consistancy. Also, the “thinner” oil is very harsh to smoke. Has this happened to anyone. My bad if someone already asked this. Thanks
Graham says:
Jul 21, 2013
I dont see any correlation in the visual consistency of the oil and harshness. I do notice that some of the og’s are harsh (stinging throat harsh). I got two og kush’s last time, one cartridge was harsh the other was smooth. I also got a two platinum og’s last time and experienced the same thing, one was harsh, one wasn’t. Jupiter og and madman og were all harsh. I wish there was a way to tell which ones are harsh without medicating with it. You would think that something as importing as the quality of the vapor would be addressed prior to distribution. I love organa labs, I just dislike the manufacturer defects. As with any new company/technology there are some kinks to work out. I am dedicated enough to the idea of pen vape, to be patient while they work things out.

Graham,
I am sorry to hear that you had a ‘harsh’ cartridge. We strive to make a smooth and delicious cartridge each and every time. If you are experiencing problems with your cartridge then please return it to the location where you purchased it to have it exchanged.

Lets fix the leaky cartridge issue before we move on to quality of vapor. I would rather have the harsh oil in the cartridge than no oil at all. I’m located in California, and I realize there is a different process here than in Colorado or Washington. My concern was continuity and consistency of cartridges from the same strain. With two identical cartridges of OG Kush one would expect a similar experience. Yet one cartridge is smooth and delicious and the other is harsh and irritating on the throat. It is my theory that these are identical oils, with one cartridge containing a faulty mechanism and the other working as it should. Please let me know if this feedback was helpful, and if I can assist in any other way. I have tried contacting a representative for further information at info@organalabs.com, but I have not received any replies. Thank you for taking the time to address these issues on this forum. Nicole,
If the cartridge leaked you would notice that there is oil on the outside, as well all over where ever you were storing the pen. Maybe you have just enjoyed it so much that that you just kept puffing away and did not realize that you used it so fast. On the other hand, if the cartridge did leak, then please return it to the location where you purchased it to take advantage of our no hassle exchange policy. Thank you for your business!

Wonderful product! The O.Pen is by far the best vape pen I’ve ever used.
One observation/question: like CRIPPLED1 above, I’ve purchased cartridges that seem to be mislabeled. I thought OL labeled the strains according to leafly.com. I purchased an OG Kush cartridge that was labeled as an indica (purple magnet and packaging), but according to leafly it’s a hybrid–and a sativa-dominated one at that! I smoked before bed, and while the high was great, I was awake and alert and energized most of the night instead of falling asleep. I also purchased a cartridge of Blue Dream that was labeled as a sativa (red magnet and packaging), while leafly again labels this strain as a hybrid.
Any thoughts? Not a complaint, as I love the product, just a question.
Daniel - OL Sales Manager says:
Jul 23, 2013
Chad,
You are correct – we do use leafly.com as a guide to determining the strains that we manufacture. On the other hand we also take into account what the grow that provided the raw material also says. For instance, Blue Dream may be listed as a hybrid in one shop and a sativa in another.
There are so many different strains and perceptions of what a strain may or may not be that there may be a few inconsistencies. Trust me, here at Organa Labs we take pride in our work and assure the utmost in quality control as well as providing all the knowledge we have about each particular strain. Thank you for your concern as well as your business!

Great product BUT I do have two quick questions about the cartridges. I know this first question may sound a bit obvious, but when is the cartridge officially empty? Is it as simple as when one cannot see the liquid anymore at all whatsoever, when it starts to taste a certain way, or …? I don’t want to waste any nor do I want to over use and cause problems to the pen/cartridge.
Last question is where can i find the 500mg Cartridges in the Seattle area? I have found a couple shops that sell the 250mg cartridges but I have yet to find the larger 500mg ones. Are the 500mg cartridges only sent to certain States?
Thank you for your responses & for your commitment to a great product!

Then I have to wait on the whole exchange process through your company directly. I was first told i could exchange faulty units directly at the site of purchase. I called to confirm and the person verified. Now im told they wont exchange it .Bad business. The place is located about 40 miles from me. I do not want to make another drive if not needed. They look at their support emails all the time. They look at this thread if and when they can.
It’s true that OL company reps have checked in here many times, and I have no doubt they will again when they can breathe — but I cannot predict the frequency of these appearances.
When the comments start piling up, as they have again, I nudge OL to respond. They inevitably do, but maybe not quite as quickly as you’d like. If you’re looking for a faster response, write to the email address provided above!

Organa Labs definitely tests their products with their own equipment and through independent labs, so in all likelihood it’s both redundant and costly to pay to have cartridges tested yourself — though that is of course your prerogative. It’s definitely a great question, and testing is definitely something the industry could use a lot more of.

I’m concerned with the comments CHRIS made above. I love the idea of the O.Pen and initially I was thrilled with Organa Labs and the simplicity of their product. As a combat wounded vet I need a discrete way to handle pain when I have to be on my feet for more than a few minutes. I just purchased my first O.Pen along with 2 cartridges this past Friday to use at an Iron Maiden / Megadeth concert the same day. At the concert with just a bit of use and no rough treatment the first cartridge started leaking like a faucet. Unfortunately I had it in my pocket and by the time I figured out what was going on my jeans, boxers, one leg, and hands had been completely covered in oil. The cartridge was such a mess that I had to toss it. The second cartridge started making both slurping and popping noises and then started leaking after just 15 minutes of light use. I put it back in it’s protective case and watched as the rest of the oil slowly leaked out and into the protective case over the next few hours. The concert hadn’t even started yet when I had these problems so the rest of the night wasn’t fun! Why did this happen to both of my cartridges? What is being done to prevent this in the future?

I do not work for Organa Labs, this is not the Organa Labs site, and as you know perfectly well the O.Pen is not sold or supported in Ohio.
Cannabis Commerce’s main purpose is providing an economic justification for defeating federal prohibition — so annoying situations like yours don’t keep coming up just because you live in a different state. Reviewing items like the O.Pen is a secondary concern. If prohibition were defeated, you wouldn’t be having the problem you’re having because the O.Pen would be sold and supported in every state.
Our mission here at Cannabis Cannabis is making complete nationwide legality a reality.
Perhaps instead of worrying where your next hit is coming from, you might want to explore the rest of the site, participate in what we’re trying to accomplish by contributing an intelligent comment on a serious article, and help us get rid of an absurd situation where businesses like Organa Labs can’t sell across state lines — the root cause of your problem.
Let me sum that up: this site is all about repealing federal prohibition; it is extremely critical of state-by-state legalization. We are probably the biggest critics of state-by-state legalization out there. You want me to help you with your O.Pen problem, try helping with our quest. That goes for everyone.
If the same people posting in this thread can’t find one other one other article to comment on that helps Cannabis Commerce the way we’ve been helping you with your O.Pen concerns, this thread will be closed.
After 150 posts, I had to get that off my chest.
On a lighter note, Organa Labs has a product in development that will take care of the needs of folks who don’t happen to live in Colorado, California, or Washington. Stay tuned for a review.

Our pens are still O-Pen Vape pens and look just like yours, however we have to fill them ourselves and they cost $50.00 a piece. Pre-filled syringes are filled at a Michigan lab and the syringes are then used to fill the pen. Syringes are $30.00 and $60.00 and available at a few Compassion Clubs around town.
I am just 24 hours in and I am blown away. There No mess, no smell, it is healthier and the meds for them are fairly priced. They have been on the shelves for a bit. I am kicking myself for not buying one sooner.

I take it you’re describing availability based on some variation of Michigan’s ever-changing MMJ rules, some of which either prohibit or once prohibited selling extracted products. Too bad the state of Michigan is so backwards it hasn’t occurred to the powers-that-be how many blue collar workers could be employed by the industry … and how many dead automobile factories could be resurrected as industrial grow facilities.
Now that your own needs have been taken care of I’m sure you’ll do everything in your power to remedy the situation so that others can experience the same benefits.

The pen is o-pen vape, however a local lab provides the meds. After reading your post I wish had not posted that on a public site. Can you please delete my prior comment?

I offered to delete your original post in a private email. I asked for a simple request from you in exchange for the simple request you asked from me. The offer still stands as does your original post.
I wonder how your local lab would feel about other businesses counterfeiting their products.
With the local laws being as bizarre as they are, and they’re way bizarre in Michigan, I can understand why they’d do it … but it’s not exactly kosher as they say in Brooklyn … where no one can even buy counterfeited vape cartridges.
What I observe is a whole lot of people out for themselves who don’t have the time of day to band together to fight marijuana prohibition. And even if they had time to band together, there’s no one to lead them. We’re witnessing a new low in the history of American activism.
It’s not okay that I can walk over to my local dispensary and buy real vape cartridges and you have to buy ones that someone’s figured out how to inject with their own product … and others in red states can’t even buy those.
Everyone can keep pointing out their individual problems and I can keep pointing out what we’re doing or not doing collectively that allows those problems to continue.
p.s. it’s possible but not likely that your local lab goes to the lengths Organa Labs does to insure balance, purity, and consistency. I could be wrong but it took Organa Labs three years to get where they are. If your lab got there in three months, that’s impressive.

This one goes out to Lory Kohn. How many hits does a 250mg cartridge provide. Also, can the prefilled cartridges be refilled with any type of oil? The pen is so nice btw.
Lory Kohn says:
Nov 8, 2013
Hi Matt,
I see you’re expanding your educational possibilities outside the state of Louisiana.
Your first question seems kinda simple but it isn’t because it’s like asking how many gulps does a keg of beer provide — are we talking about huge gulps or huge hits, or tiny little hits an older person would take to increase their appetite? I take medium hits and only hit it at night, so a 250 cartridge lasts and lasts for me. I’m talking about months.
On the other hand, these comments include ones from people who tear through their cartridges in a couple of days — but they still don’t lament that their cartridges didn’t last long enough because they were hitting them from the moment they woke up till late at night. I wish I could just toss off a number, but the best way I can answer your question based on comments here and what I’ve heard around is that there seems to be a high degree of satisfaction with the number of hits people get for the money. Sorry I can’t be more scientific.
Regarding your second question … well … if I lived in the Bayou state which will legalize pot when Harvard beats LSU in the Sugar Bowl, I’d be looking for ways to refill cartridges, too. I’m not letting this thread go there because at the present moment that would be telling people how to avoid buying from of one of our best advertisers (I know you would if you could, just sayin’ why I can’t allow that).
But … imagine you were Organa Labs and people just like yourself were asking refilling questions just like yours from all over the country. Well, you would be “burning the midnight oil” so to speak to try to figure out a way or ways to help those people out, too. Let’s just say your needs and Organa Labs’ needs are aligned. They want your money. You want to give it to them.
Something’s gotta give, so if you can hang in there a little longer …
Lory Kohn says:
Nov 12, 2013
Matt — this answer supercedes the one I gave earlier: 0-openvape.com now lists 300-400 hits as an average amount! There ya go! Only they forgot to tell us whether that was for a 250mg cartridge or a 500mg cartridge … so the previous answer is still useful.

Hi everyone, this question is mostly directed to Lory since he seems pretty well versed when it comes to O-Pen matters. I never smoked weed before but I just got my California recommendation, for personal reasons I don’t want any one to know that I medicate so I searched the web for a discreet vape and came across the O-Pen. My question is how potent will it be for someone with zero tolerance like me? Do you think I should try herbs first before the O-pen?
Lory Kohn says:
Nov 28, 2013
Hi Jame,
Actually it will be slightly less potent than most herb you can get at dispensaries that know what they’re doing. That’s because you won’t be getting fire in your lungs at the same time you’re getting THC so you can learn to regulate your intake better. I would take two second hits at first instead of going for 8 second hits. Just go real easy.
The good news is that unlike brownies, which can taste great, the O.Pen has a lot of virtues but while I’d never say the taste is bad very few people obtain one just one for the taste. Just about everyone eats too many brownies the first time they try edibles and wishes they didn’t! So you’ll avoid that pitfall.
Another difference with the O.Pen is that several hours after you use one, the high gradually wears off and you get straight again quicker if you want to than with raw buds which tend to stay in your system longer.
I think you made the right choice. Just take a two second hit and wait a while before you take another one. Go real slow and your chances of it working for someone in your circumstance increase.
Welcome to Stoner Nation! Your secret is safe with us.

Does anyone know why a pen would stop producing large hits? When first purchsed it would produce large billowing clouds of vapor. The pen is about 8 weeks old and still has a good amount of oil left in it. It doesn’t leak oil at all and the charge is good. I even went as far as to swap the cartridge with a friends battery with the same poor results. I’m figuring the cartridge is beginning to fail, but thought that the problem may have an easy fix. There does appear to be some condensation inside the cartridge, but only on one side. Still produces small hits. Any thoughts?
Lory Kohn says:

1) I’m glad to hear I’m not the only guy who gets months out of a cartridge!
2) Haven’t heard that one yet. It’s gonna be hard to get hold of any Organa Labs reps over Thanksgiving weekend. However, as you should know you’re entitled to a warranty replacement, so you may as well go that route while you await an explanation.
3)”Billowing clouds of vapor” might be a slight exaggeration, no? You should see some vapor if you take a really big hit — which I wouldn’t do in public if you want to fly under the radar. Better to take more short hits if you wanna stay in stealth mode. If you actually got billowing clouds of vapor, your cartridge might be possessed — which is still covered under warranty.

I love the convenience and simplicity of the O-pen I’ve been using it as my primary method of medicating for 6 months now. I use it daily but not excessively and a 250 mg cartridge will last me about a month. One thing that concerns me that I noticed from my first hit was a strong plastic like taste in my mouth. I sometimes find that after using the O-pen I experience serious bouts of respiratory problems similar to asthma attacks (I don’t have asthma). I fear the plastic components in the pen may be the cause of this. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
Lory Kohn says:
Dec 2, 2013
Hi Curtis,
I don’t know if anyone else will chime in with a similar experience, but there is no reason you can’t have both the pen and the cartridge replaced under warranty. You don’t have to feel guilty about asking, “no questions asked” warranty means exactly that.

Vape cartridges fit devices that are “510 thread pitch” (the size of the screw-on connection). So you have to determine what size thread pitch your e-cigarette is.
Then there’s the small matter of fitting vs. working well …

1) I’m not up on the latest WA recreational situation though I think the cannabis tourism starts January 1, 2014. You might want to search “cannabis tourism Washington” to be on the safe side.
2) One or both of these links should help you figure out who carries the O.Pen in The Emerald City (Seattle):
leafly.com
o-penvape.com
You could also check the online edition of Seattle Weekly and look through the ads. Then there’s OL’s Washington distributor, Sound CO2, at 206-451-4480.
p.s. I like the way you put the word “patient” in quotes; the concept that someone has to be sick and dying or faking the same to rate weed is the single dumbest thing I’ve heard in decades.

So Is there any way to open a pre filled cartridge and take dabs out of my rig instead of vaping outta my o pen? Or would that ruin the cartridge for future use?
Lory Kohn says:
Dec 13, 2013
Hi Greg, I don’t expect anyone to read 185 comments but as had been said before this thread is not going to include mods for vape cartridges since Organa Labs is an advertiser.
HOWEVER, I can finally announce it: Organa Labs/Open Vape is about to introduce the Go Pen which has one purpose in life: the dabification of people’s lives who live in places where they can’t buy vape cartridges and/or want the highest of highs. The Go Pen will accept either shatter or wax and oils — and you can make it yourself or buy it from another source than OL/OV. It will also have a lifetime warranty which is unheard of in its price class.
Now you won’t have to wrack your brain figuring out how to refill vape cartridges! Review coming soon.
First Go Pens should — emphasis on should — be in stores within the month and will also be available to buy from o-penvape.com; yes, they can be shipped across state lines.

I got an o.pen cartridge because they did not the respective cartridges for my other batteries. I have and Aspen vape pen battery and a rem/pen battery (both of which have the 510 thread.) however I cannot draw a hit at all from the new cartridge. is there a reason the cartridge would not work with another battery?
Lory Kohn says:
Dec 16, 2013
The fact they both have a 510 thread pitch means they’ll fit together, not necessarily work together. Your O.Pen is expecting a vape cartridge. It may or may not work with other cartridges, no one maintains a list that I’m aware of. I feel your pain, though — hope you’re vaping again sooner than later!

my friend has an O.pen cartridge as well and I had him medicate using the same battery (aspen vape pen) I was trying to use with my new O.pen sour diesel cartridge and with his cartridge it did work. so clearly the cartridge I purchased is faulty. how common is this? and do most local dispenseries have a policy to replace fautly products? I live in Colorado if that helps.

I have now attempted to use the cartridge with 3 different batteries (O.Pen, Aspen vape, and Rempen) with both the O.pen vape and the aspen the lights on the bottom light up for 3 seconds and then immediately shut off(no flashing). the batteries only behave this way when I have the o.pen cartridge attached. other cartridges work just fine. is this some kind of fail safe for a broken atomizer in the cartridge?
Lory Kohn says:

Dude just exchange your O.Pen battery it’s got a lifetime warranty. Contact info is all over this thread specifically o-penvape.com. It’s not worth diagnosing, just get a new one. Also be careful buying a more expensive pen because you think it will have less problems. Some of them break too and the warranty isn’t as good. They’re all made you know where and it ain’t the US of A — not that American made would guarantee perfect performance either. I do empathize with your plight and trust you’ll get it figured out soon. 1) I’m not Organa Labs so I’m unclear why you expect me to provide customer service for your problem. If you had a problem with a Dell computer, would you ask a guy who reviewed it or call Dell?
2) I’m unsure why you’d think I have cartridge failure statistics at my disposal. What are the failure rates for for the Aspen Vape and the Rem Pen?
3) I can only speak to failure rates for the two dozen O.pens I have owned and 30 different cartridges, none of which has failed … that is before I gave them away at which point several people reported failures leading me to believe some people have a hard time realizing that vape cartridges are made out of glass which cracks under rough handling.
4) That said there are legitimate failures but as has been explained here several times this is the dawn of the personal vaporizer era, it is not mature technology, it is immature technology in a highly volatile industry, and companies like Organa Labs, Aspen, and Rem are doing the best they can under the circumstances. I’m sorry your experience has not been perfect, but we are talking about a convenient, throwaway tool, not a highly precision laboratory instrument designed to survive manned space flight. That’s why Organa Labs offers a no-questions asked lifetime warranty on a $15 pen. Notice I said Organa Labs not Cannabis Commerce.

Funny, I was just talking about this on my ride to Taos last weekend with someone about to go to Central America. She, who’s scared to mail stuff in the USA, surprised me by saying she’d already resolved to bring hers to Belize and Guatemala. This is a question no one can answer definitively; however, I have to doubt that customs inspectors in Uruguay are on red alert for vape pens. Less than an oz is hardly a headline bust and its iffy whether or not they’ve even heard of vape pens or are trained to distinguish e-cigarettes from vape pens. Then again …
Let’s take a look at Wikipedia’s guide to marijuana penalties by country.
Brazil = a warning and community service (selecting costumes for the Miss Brasilia pageant).
Chile = decriminalized as long as you’re not doing it in public locations
Ecuador = possession of under 10 grams is legal.
Uruguay = possession of small amounts no problem
Argentina = legal for personal use
Maybe a better question is why would you ever come back?

Do you guys think $200 for 5 500mg cartridges is a good deal? My only fear is that I buy all 5 but it’s so weak and diluted it wont even get me high unless I take like 30 hits. I have a pretty low tolerance but I heard that it’s not nearly as strong as raw bud. I recently moved back in with my parents and they said I cant smoke, so I heard this is discreet. Also has anyone ever tried a dry herb attachment on the O-pen since its a 510 threaded battery? And lastly how long do you think 5 500mg cartridges will last?
Lory Kohn says:
Dec 23, 2013
1) That’s pretty much the going rate, not a great deal or a bad deal.
2) If you find vape cartridges weak and diluted and you need 30 hits to get high you’re a better candidate for dabificiation than vaporization. Keep an eye out for the forthcoming Go Pen from O.Pen Vape (Organa Labs).
3) It isn’t as strong as raw bud in potency or smell; the basically nonexistent smell is its great attraction, that and the fact it’s milder on throats and lungs than combustion. And most people can get a decent high from three or so hits as opposed to thirty.
4) You heard right about discreet.
5) Maybe someone has but there are better options for vaping raw buds though they’re a lot more expensive and harder to maintain than O.Pens. The one made by the same folks who make the Atmos comes with like six pages of instructions.
6) Over at o-penvape.com, they claim 300-400 hits per cartridge. Let’s assume they mean a 500 mg cartridge. You can work out the math from there, but only you know how many times a day you want to be high or if you want to be high all day long. For grins, let’s assume 350 hits to a cartridge.
350 hits x 5 cartridges = 1750 hits.
1750 hits divided by 30 (the amount of hits you need to get high) = 58, the amount of times you can high from five cartridges.
If you like to get high three times a day, you can be high for about 20 days.
If I were you I’d look for a Go Pen (coming late January or February) and some wax. It’s kind of amazing how many huge hits you can get from a tiny pebble of wax. But wax is too strong for a lot of people.

My dispensary claims that their cartridges are more potent than others. Does Organa Labs make all the cartridges or do they have different distributors and manufactures in different states. I live in California so are the cartridges here made from a different type of trim locally or are they all from Colorado?
Lory Kohn says:
Dec 28, 2013
There are three different licensed manufacturers in the three states Organa Labs vape cartridges are currently distributed in. Whoever made that claim was offering a personal opinion or sales mumbo jumbo as opposed to an indisputable fact.
Yes, you are vaping California trim if you bought your cartridge in California.
For the record it’s unlikely anyone on earth could tell in a blindfold test if Supercritical CO2-extracted honey oil was made from buds or trim. The only way to tell is that honey oil made from buds costs three times as much as honey oil made from trim; in other words only your wallet could tell.

Dec 28, 2013
On a scale from 1-10 how high will this get me? Would it be incorrect for me to assume that a O-pen cartridge is as potent as some mid quality bud?
Lory Kohn says:
Dec 29, 2013
Read the comments here. There’s one guy who said he needs 30 hits to get high. Let’s throw that one comment out and you’ve got dozens and dozens of people perfectly satisfied with the high after a low number of hits. It definitely gets the job done. Does it compare to dabs? No. Nothing does. I’m not sure raw buds definitely get you higher — you definitely get more of a “rush” from the smoke entering your lungs and raw buds tend to last longer in your system … so you get more of an “experience,” but not necessarily more of a high.
The 1-10 scale question I can’t answer because I don’t know which particular vape cartridge you’re comparing against what sort of … shatter, for instance. It’s like me guessing how hot you are on a 1-10 scale, I don’t have enough information.
Compared to mid-quality buds, let’s change that to mid-potency buds, since that’s what we’re talking about. I’d say that’s in the ballpark. Once again, read the comments: some people have received bad cartridges, but there are next to no complaints about the potency.
So, if perchance you were wondering if you could just take an O.Pen with you somewhere and feel confident you could get high, I’d say you have no worries there. If people weren’t satisfied with the high, vape pens wouldn’t be so wildly popular.

Taste is a bit different than bud but easy to get used to and the stealth factor is without compare in my opinion. Question…is a cartridge still good to go as long as there is oil in it? If so, mine seems to be lasting just fine. Just wish this product was legal and available in my state.
Lory Kohn says:

The cartridge lights should start blinking when it’s empty (which they also do when it needs to be charged). Heavy stoners are going to go through anything like army ants; moderate “users” can get months and months out of a cartridge as you’ve discovered. And very few cartridges break if people take care not to abuse them.
Regarding the product not being available in your state, have a look around at the rest of this site. It’s all about repealing prohibition with hint after hint that going state-by-state is the wrong strategy because it’s not fair Organa Labs is in my backyard but it may as well be in Siberia from your perspective. Equality is a winning concept. Too bad it’s largely forgotten. I’m the one guy not celebrating the dawn of recreational pot in Colorado because I don’t believe that’s a fair pot policy.
Every state-by-state effort is effort not directed at repealing prohibition. So deserving folks like you are on the outside looking in when we should all be in on the party. Thanks for listening.

To all who have had trouble getting bigger draws off your o.pen, consider the following: You may be trying to pull too hard on the pen. I have owned the same pen since May of 13, going through one cartridge per month, and have zero problems. But I take in very slow draws, the LED may fade in and out slow. My throat gets the burning sensation right around the time the LEDs blink, and I see good amount of vapor upon exhaling.
Its a nice little product but probably can’t take much of a beating. Would you floor your gas pedal at every red light turned green? Then why try and literally suck the hash oil out of the pen? I see someone try this every time I share it at a concert or where ever. They never seem to get the hits I do.

As much as I want to love these cartridges, they disappoint me every time. I have purchased three cartridges from this company in both Co and CA and all of them have tasted like plastic, given me a headache and have not gotten “high”. Is there a purging process that is not being followed causing us to inhale toxic fumes like most shatter i have purchased that does not have the butane burned off properly? This product makes me feel lousy and empties my pockets. I will not purchase again and will continue with other brands that don’t taste like plastic.
Lory Kohn says:
Jan 4, 2014
While I understand the human need to vent I have never once experienced a plastic taste and I have had way more cartridges than the average person. So what you are experiencing is not typical. Have you tried more than one pen? It sounds like you split time between CO and CA. In CO, the owners of Organa Labs also own the following dispensaries: Evergreen Apothecary, Colorado Harvest Company, and La Contes. I would show up at one of these and state your case if you have not received satisfaction other ways … though it sounds like you haven’t contacted Organa Labs either. They’re not big on having unhappy customers.
And you are using Organa Labs cartridges with Organa Labs pens, right? While they may work with some other brands, they work best together.
If what you’ve experienced was typical, there wouldn’t be so many happy customers. So while I feel your pain and understand where you are coming from, it really doesn’t sound like you’ve given the company much of a chance to make things right with you.
Lastly, I don’t expect everyone to read all 200 + posts here before leaving a comment but it is important to reiterate that this is the dawn of the personal vaporizer era, it is not mature technology, Organa Labs and everyone else involved is doing the best they can to provide sturdy merchandise under the constraints of having to use Chinese manufacturing to keep prices to a point people can afford. At some point this will all shake out but for now you may have to make more than one trip to a shop or try some replacements before concluding that the company is out to get you which it is not.
Please check back and let us know how your customer service experience is once you contact Organa Labs through their recommended service channels or in person at one of their dispensaries.

Oh Lory, where do I begin? I believe you’re mixing chemically proven facts with your personal opinions…Also…do you work for O.Pen Vape???
You said:
{If a vape cartridge wasn’t made from trim, it would cost ten times as much … and after 16 hours of pulverization in an industrial CO2 extraction machine, neither you or anyone else on earth could tell if buds or trim were extracted.}
Wrong!
Ten times as much Lory?! So an O.Pen Vape cartridge extracted from flowers would run a patient roughly $300?!!
Hmmmm….I’m no RainMan but those numbers don’t add up.
I bet I could tell the difference from extracted flowers and their so-called “Trim” or “Sugar” LOL!!
Based on the pictures from their lab up above and how it tastes, I’ll call it crappy mixed up trim with some stems and fan leaves. Yum Yum.
“It’s what inside that counts”
LOL!!
Lory Kohn says:
Jan 7, 2014
1) What chemically proven fact are you referring to?
2) O.Pen Vape is an advertiser. I have been to the lab and watched the extraction process. There are definitely no stems or fan leaves used. You are tripping with that statement — which makes your statement about “chemically proven facts” more suspect.
3) You caught a mistake which I freely admit: I meant to type three times as much, not ten. If you check my comment on this article from a few weeks ago, on December 21, I said buds would cost three times as much as sugar. I thought three and typed ten. I agree there’s no way buds costs ten times as much as sugar/trim. It is really nice from the growers’ perspective that markets have sprung up for sugar/trim used in “concentrates.” It would be less valuable without the recent emphasis on concentrates and medibles.
4) Let’s hear your “chemically proven facts” about the supercritical CO2 process and how an expert taster such as yourself would still be able to tell the difference between buds and trim after 16 hours of pulverization. You forgot to include those. It sounds like it would be a fun test though! The process is kind of like gold mining; sometimes you find a few pebbles in a pan and sometimes you find the whole gold vein, but at the end of the day gold is gold. Same thing for THC. A chemist might need less buds to make a certain amount of THC that he/she would of trim, but at the end of the extraction, THC is THC. That is my understanding. You don’t claim to be The Rain Man and I don’t claim to be Steven Hawking, so please present actual scientific evidence that is not the case.
5) Neither Organa Labs, other people who’ve weighed in with comments, or myself has claimed a vape cartridge is the taste treat of the century. I’ve written several times in these comments that people buy O.Pens and vape cartridges for the convenience and for the stealth, not for the taste. If you have a vape cartridge that you know of that in your opinion tastes great, you’re welcome to tell us what it is if you’re not trolling. And what if it tastes great but doesn’t get the job done?
6) If anyone like yourself actually sent me an intelligent review of a competing pen or cartridge, I would put it on the site. Try me if you don’t believe it.

Just spoke to Med-West the California distributor of O-Pen cartridges and this is what they have to say about their THC lab results.
“We are currently working on getting the testing results to reflect on our packaging which should be implemented soon. Results will differ from strain to strain, but typically in our cartridges we see an average THC level of 25% +/- 5%, CBD level of 1.5% +/- 0.75%. The testing results on our packaging will reflect the exact percentage/weight for six different cannabinoids.”
Since top-shelf flower is typically 23-28% this sounds like a decent potent vape. I will definitely grab a cartridge.

Will the Green Wave pen work with the O.pen cartridges? Haven’t used it yet, so any advice would be appreciated.

Now that is a “chemically proven fact.” Thank you. I don’t know everything but I feel reasonably confident my gold mining analogy above is close enough for rock and roll.
While I find the figures you listed believable, to be completely objective, you’d want that result corroborated by an independent lab — though I greatly doubt you’d see much more than the 5% variation you were quoted.
Just to complete the picture, OL owns like 8 industrial CO2 extractors which cost something like $100,000 each. That’s why although the company isn’t perfect, my money’s on them to get their processes right. It also takes like six weeks to train a guy (you could train a girl, I guess, but she better be a power lifter) to account for all the variations and keep the engine running. And the same guy has been doing it for two years. Think “John Henry,” like that old blues song about the steel driving man.

4 cartridges, 4 substantial leaks while on vacation. Was unaware I could exchange them, but no longer have them (just pictures of the oil all over the inside of their plastic containers) as they are illegal in my state. Decent product aside from the fact I lost probably an entire large cartridge due to shoddy materials. Keep in mind they were capped and in room temperature the whole time. I love the concept, but fix your stuff. Never had an e cig leak. Especially not every single one I’ve purchased.

Lory, I appreciate your mission. I try to do my part to speak about the benefits of FULL legalization and the costs of this ridiculous and unconstitutional policy. People like Bensinger are the true enemy of this nation, costing us upwards of $50,000,000,000/yr in costs and lost tax revenue (not to mention the benefits of legalization which includes getting it out of the hands of terrorists and cartels and into the hands of American corporations) because they want to continue to make money off of the suffering of the 1,500,000+ arrested for drugs every year.
As for the O.Pen, I wanted to share my experience with it to the people here. Now, I am a brand new O.Pen user, having bought it just 3.5 days ago, but I thought I’d be able to share a few insights. I generally smoke about a gram a day, give or take.
I have a Magic Flight Launch Box (heretofore referred to as MFLC) one of those old Vaporizer boxes (from about 2004) and I also smoke using most other mediums. I prefer concentrates to flowers, but enjoy them both. The MFLB is portable and compact, but not discrete. It cannot be seen without people asking “what is that?” and it’s very awkward to use because of the battery design being only for right-handed use (I’m a lefty). It does work well when brand new with brand new batteries, but it’s hard to keep clean and easy to break. They have a great warranty, but as I had it longer, I used it less and less. The old-school vaporizer I have is good, but takes like 15 minutes to warm up and can be turned up too high and cause the herb to catch fire.
Now to the O.pen: It’s really easy to conceal, easy to hit, delivers enough for me to exhale a nice-sized cloud of vapor and the tip is really easy to hold in the mouth without any hands. I don’t consider myself to have lungs like Michael Phelps and I always have to keep an eye on the flashing light because I hit it to the end.
Like I said earlier, I smoke about a gram a day and I’ve been doing my best to smoke as much as possible since getting the O.pen to test its capacity. I got the 500 mg cartridge of Bubba Kush. It gets me high, I think the high is actually better than my 1 foot waterpipe which tends to make me cough more often. Since I bought the pen on Monday afternoon, I have only hit it and nothing else. It is now Thursday afternoon and I think I’m down to 1/3 to 1/4 capacity. Based on the way I’ve been smoking way more than I normally do, I think that’s pretty good for a $30 cartridge. I spend about $7.50 a day on bud (I normally pay $225/oz each month), so if I can get to tomorrow afternoon on this pack, it’s IDENTICAL in price on higher use. I’ve hit it in the kitchen with my girlfriend in the other room (she complains about the house smelling like herb) and she does not notice it at all. At its price, I really don’t see how you can go wrong…it certainly has been nice not inhaling smoke since Monday.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Only who’s Bensinger and how is he or his company costing us $50 billion/yr.?
The venerable Magic Flight Launch Box is extensively described on the very weird vaporpedia.com, http://vaporpedia.com/wiki/Magic-Flight_Launch_Box. It’s weird since the site appears to be a replica of Wikipedia devoted to promoting the MFLB alone.
btw Cannabis Commerce is about to start reviewing a bunch of other units in the near future. In fact we’re going to emphasize that because the people have spoken and they want short and sweet vaporization reviews more than they want in-depth analysis of poteconomics, so so be it. Well, that and the fact people settle for grovelization instead of legalization so there’s not enough free enterprise to keep me interested in writing about it (http://cannabiscommerce.org/2013/11/16/poteconomics-and-human-emotions-a-heart-to-heart/).

As an anti-Prohibitionist, I would have thought you knew that Peter Bensinger was the head of the DEA for 5 years and has spent the past 32 years using that experience as a way to profit off of his anti-drugs-in-the-workplace consulting agency. He’s the guy who came out a few days ago saying “alcohol is less harmful than marijuana”. He’s the person who helps to push this idea that marijuana has a harm because he profits off of its illegality and his drug testing for corporations business. The funny thing is that he’s also an alum of my high school along with another evil person fighting against freedom in Ginna Sulcer Marston, but also anti-mandatory-minimum-law activist (and presidential pardon recipient) John Forte. He’s not SOLELY costing us that $50,000,000,000 a year, his position and his influence over those who have the power over the law are.
As of this writing, Friday evening, my Monday afternoon purchase is still going, though there’s very little left in the chamber. I am still getting great hits and there’s no leakage yet.
Lory Kohn says:
Feb 21, 2014
Well you see I don’t blame the DEA for marijuana prohibition’s existence in 2014, I blame the “activists” who organize inside state lines and settle for constricted quasi-legalization instead of targeting federal marijuana prohibition itself.
Going state-by-state allows folks like “Bensinger” (it’s generally a helpful practice to include first names and titles since not everyone always knows who you’re talking about) to continue doing what they do.
It’s easy to blame everyone but ourselves for what most pot consumers still have to put up with in America. But it’s the constant bending over and settling for medical marijuana and heavily restricted rec weed sold by only a few establishments that empowers people like him.
And, no, I don’t make a habit of studying past DEA heads. The DEA is an enforcement division that doesn’t make drug policy outside of its task of scheduling drugs. It doesn’t have the power to repeal prohibition. State-by-state grovelization is music to the DEA’s ears, cause it keeps it intact.
I believe the DEA and other government entities would be a lot more moved by massive demonstrations in our nation’s capital. Alas, activism is now celebrating small local “victories” instead of going for the federal knockout blow.
If people are too unorganized and/or lazy to show up in Washington DC en masse, well, keep paying $500 an ounce and hoping a friend of a friend of a friend can find you something tasty.
I’ve had 50 cartridges and not one leak yet — which isn’t saying they don’t leak, obviously some of them do or there wouldn’t be so many reports.
Dan says:
Feb 22, 2014
I also thought you would know who Bensinger was because his statement directly contradicting the president made front page news on numerous online news outlets, including Huffpo, Yahoo and Fox News. Maybe my position on the DEA is different because I live in San Diego where the DEA continuously comes in and raids the Medical Marijuana Dispensaries when those are the people who actually try to abide by the state law. And I also blame the DEA for their contribution to the negative stereotypes which have made it so hard for anti-prohibitionists to actually gain traction for the movement. The propaganda campaign funded by their partners (Partnership for a Drug Free America, that consulting agency that Bensinger runs, etc.) is the reason why it’s still illegal. Remember, we did TRY to legalize for recreational use here in California, but those people kept it from happening. Yes, I do want this nation to legalize, but you have to keep in mind that we have 200+ congressional districts that are filled with ultra-religious folks who would never vote to support legalization of something their god gave us.
We’ve had massive demonstrations in DC. They don’t accomplish much. This isn’t the Ukraine. We aren’t the NRA either. Remember the last protest? It was the perfect anti-legalization propaganda because it was nothing but stoners and hippies because people like me have to remain in the closet due to our profession. I work in a VERY conservative industry and if they knew that I smoked every day (before and after work), I’d lose my job. Many others are in the same position as me. Many others have drug testing due to the influence of Bensinger and others just like him.
Personally, I would have become a police officer after grad school had it not been for the war on drugs. But I have a moral objection to the war on drugs and anyone who works to help enforce it. Just because it’s your job doesn’t make it any less evil to personally ruin hundreds of lives just to justify your salary.
Lory Kohn says:
Feb 22, 2014
First off, thanks for taking the time to debate anti-prohibition efforts with me and for caring about others besides yourself. Unfortunately, that has become increasingly rare.
There are twenty-some DEA territories around the nation and each one has leeway to enforce or not enforce the strict letter of the law as they feel fit (http://cannabiscommerce.org/2011/11/27/the-dea-calling/). The agency works hand-in-hand with US Attorneys, and … well, yours in CA are always looking for career-making cases while we in CO are lucky beyond belief to have an actual mature adult as our US Attorney, John F. Walsh who only cracks down on dispensaries when he absolutely has to (he has to acknowledge the concerned parent crowd, too, not just us).
You seem like a smart guy. So far, we’ve “won” two big elections here in CO, one to have MMJ and one for rec, and there’s still only a hundred or so dispensaries approved to sell rec weed and any city and every county can opt out any time (WA passed without opt-out clauses; groan). That means we’d have to win yet another election here in CO to get what we’d have if prohibition was repealed. So that takes winning all 3 elections.
Multiply 3 elections by 50 states, and now we have to win 150 elections to gain the equivalent of repealing prohibition once. But we’re not going to win all those elections. If we win half of them, we need 300 elections to equal the economic freedom we’d gain from repealing prohibition once. And it takes an incredible effort to win just one of these elections — as you found out in CA.
So from where I sit, it’s insane to take on 300 or so elections when we could all join together and make a concerted, unified effort to repeal prohibition. Is that simple or easy? Why no, it’s not. Is it harder than winning racial equality to vote was in the southern states in the 60s? Why no, it’s not. Those bigots were way more entrenched in their hatred than any congressman is against marijuana. So freedom can be won against what seems like incredible odds. Look up Gandhi in India.
That’s why I don’t pore over national news stories about what I call grovelization, which is why I didn’t see the stories you assume for some reason than I assimilate. A national movement intrigues me, local stuff and state-by-state now bores the hell out of me. Remember I’ve been writing about this constantly since 2010.
Right now, it’s more important to indulge my musical side that I’ve been neglecting. That’s what I’m jazzed about at the moment. And I have to immerse myself in it if I hope to make up for lost time. So that’s what I’m doing. I’ll post again on Cannabis Commerce when I have something less cynical and sarcastic to say.
Which massive demonstrations are you referring to? I can tell you’re an intelligent guy but you make the assumption everyone knows what you’re talking about. Please spell these out so I and the readers can really follow what you’re trying to say.
Lastly, I hate to keep defending the DEA but you do know the DEA doesn’t make the 800,000 marijuana arrests a years, that’s local and state enforcement — New York State is the worst culprit — they only (theoretically in CA, in reality in CO) hop in when organized crime is involved.
Well really lastly, I disagree that religious folks are up in arms against weed like they are against abortion. There is nothing in the bible that speaks against weed and there are in fact many religious weed sects who feel that hash oil is holy oil.
OK, I lied, I’m still going, you’ll note that neither MJ amendments or rec weed amendments ever address the drug testing in the workplace issue, nor do they address the cannabis research issue or the free the prisoners issue. Which are three more reasons I’d rather rock out than read mainstream media’s take on all things marijuana.
Thanks for posting! I always appreciate intelligent comments.

I have a very simply question that may be addressed or may not. It might be something that no one wants to speak of, but here goes: I do not live in CO, WA, etc. I would like to go to CO for example, buy some for my own personal use, and simply drive it home. I understand non-residents can purchase the cartridges, so it is as simple as this for someone like me? I understand there could be problems if I’m pulled over right outside CO, but does that happen? Are other states looking to pull people over leaving the state? Thanks for any info.
Lory Kohn says:

While this is in no way a recommendation to risk getting pulled over right outside CO, I was expecting to hear about a lot more border tension than has been reported so far. It is also a little surprising that law enforcement in general does not seem to be on the warpath against vape pens.
On the other hand, just imagine what it would be like to be a sheriff in a town like, say, Kanorado which is right on the Colorado-Kansas border. Would it not be tempting to shake down every car that passes through? I still kinda expect to start hearing more about that … though as I said things have been relatively quiet so far.
I’ll leave you with the always-exciting news that there are nearly 50,000 people in jail for cannabis-related “offenses,” and that about 1,000 Americans are currently serving life sentences for the same. That’s not a vague guesstimate; those are the facts.

I just bought my O pen yesterday and i am enjoying it so far. I have always been very picky about my bud, often laughing at different friends so called “top Shelf”. After dabbing CO2 Extracted girl scout cookies, the O pen is a very mild effect. The bud i buy has a much superior high as well (crystal coma or Kushman private reserve).
I did enjoy how clean it hits, very smooth, although i can pull much much longer than eight seconds. I am afraid to travel with it to work because i live in the mountains and i have to go to work in Orange County today. My dispensary is closed on Sunday and i wont be home till late tonight so its not worth taking my pen and risking a leak.
Also i was told by my dispensary the pen is refillable with wax, and although i enjoy the cartridges, it was a very attractive feature. I have yet to find anyone who has done this or even heard of it done. Do they offer cartridges with any higher concentrations. Although there is a lot of oil there, i am not sure how it will last if i have to keep following up with extra hits for my pain.

Valerie,
Have you reached out to OrganaLabs? We are proud of the quality and the consistency of our product, however, any leaking cartridge, or product failure is something we take seriously. The shop you purchased from will return or exchange a cartridge that is defective.
I am curious, are their any habits that you have that could contribute to the cartridge(s) leaking, ie traveling over a high elevation pass, Donner Summit in California, or the Continental Divide in Colorado? We do see a propensity to leak with repeated elevation change. In fact we ship to mountain stores in a sealed pressurized container. We are also offering an airtight container to store your pen in and will be available soon on the O.penVape.com website. The most common contributor to leaking is the pen being bent inside a pocket when someone sits down, or in a purse or bag.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any additional questions.

They don’t do the table of elements magnets anymore. Now it’s a circular magnet that says OPenVape and the name of the strain. I don’t know why they switched their packaging, maybe to get away from the “chemical/synthetic” connotation or something. But they were cooler than what they have now.
I bought a 150mg cartridge, then 2 250mg cartridges. The fourth 250mg that I bought leaked so I returned it. That night, my new one started leaking. I took it back today and got a new one. So, that’s 2 out of 5 that of leaked on me (I just got the thing a couple weeks ago). The lady at the dispensary told me that she has had hers for about a year, and has only had one defective cartridge. I dig the O.pen a lot, it is certainly handy, that’s for sure. But these god damned leaky cartridges, man, if it happens one more time…..plus the oil leaked down INTO the actual battery part of the pen. I sucked it out and cleaned it with a Q-tip. If it goes wrong, I’ll just return it for a new one. Lifetime warranty. If not for that warranty, I might be suspecting I got ripped off by a shitty product. BUT, the pen gets me high, and I am fascinated with the oil cartridges, they are pretty awesome. Vapor rules, but I don’t know about the polyethylene glycol. I’ve heard that vegetable glycol is much better. You can get your own oil refills in a syringe at the dispensary, so I may begin to do that. Anyway, this thing is awesome, but, damn leaky cartridges.

First a big THANK YOU Lory, for all you do in spreading the word! A great site!
Now for my experience and take on the o.pen vape pen…
As marijuana is in no way legal in my state, a friend purchased a pen and four cartridges for me when I passed through CA., (pen was $35 and cartridges were $40 each). I was looking to acquire some medicinal smoke to combat my chronic back pain, (8% disability). I decided to go the pen route to avoid the smoke, be economical, discreet, and convenient…WRONG!!!
The first cartridge was an awesome experience and I would love for it to be the answer to my pain that I had hoped it to be. However…even though I did not expose any to extreme elevations nor temperatures, yet three of the four heavily leaked; one of which just kept oozing until it was gone and had made a mess of my center console, another leaked out into the clear tube they come in. I had a friend mail me six more and had severe leaking issues with four!!! One of which leaked down into the battery so bad I sucked and shook quite a bit of oil out of the connection port, with the cartridge removed. Now as of tonight my pen is not wanting to draw unless I take a strong pull, however when done with the second to my last cartridge, the force required caused the oil to pull up the draw tube and further leak out the base. So now down to one cartridge and a non-usable pen. I have no way to return to the shop over 1,500 miles away. I am disgusted that I have wasted over $300, including the pen, that I could have put towards flower that I would still be enjoying. There went the money I had to stock up on meds. Now I will resort to sucking it up and making it through the day on gut rotting anti-inflamitorys and the occasional muscle relaxer when the spasms get to be overwhelming. I f’n HATE pills!!! I guess I might try to disassemble my pen and see if I can clean it out and rig it back together for use, maybe get a hypodermic and try to transfer the leaked and leaking cartridges into a good cartridge…since I can’t return anything where I live.
A very big non-thank you Organa Labs!!! I will never purchase any of your products again and will make sure to spread my discontent.
Lory Kohn says:
Aug 15, 2014
1) I am way less inclined to defend Organa Labs today than I was in the past since they have morphed from a likeable mom ‘n pop operation to a way less likeable corporate entity.
2) The high percentage of complaints about the O.Pen’s reliability are impossible to ignore; clearly Organa Labs never got their quality control act together — although it is also true that some people, myself included, never experienced a failure.
3) I understand your frustration with the product.
4) All that said, I believe you are giving Organa Labs 100% of the blame while they are maybe in reality guilty of bearing 25% of the blame. Let me break that down for you:
25% of the blame goes to Organa Labs because there are just too many complaints about their pens and cartridges, they used to appear here and show a customer service presence, now they can’t be bothered since they have “diversified.”
25% of the blame goes to activist organizations like NORML who have left people like you high and dry by promoting statewide legalization instead of going after federal marijuana prohibition.
25% of the blame goes to conventional media for covering statewide quasi-legalization efforts instead of calling for the end of federal marijuana prohibition (The New York Times being one huge recent exception).
25% of the blame has to go to you for buying a product you knew wasn’t supported in your state.
So it’s a bit of an overreaction to blame Organa Labs 100% for you having to go back to prescription meds. While I’m less of a fan that I used to be, I still know of no instances when they have not honored their warranty in states that are “legally” allowed to carry the O.Pen.
If that assessment seems harsh in your current predicament, remember I have spent the better part of four years editorializing against statewide quasi-legalization vs. the far greater benefits of repealing federal marijuana prohibition so that unfortunate cases like yours weren’t common occurrences all over the country. It’s also why I personally never celebrated the so-called “victory” of Amendment 64 here in Colorado because I knew it did nothing for people just as needy in other states.
I do agree that it absolutely sucks that you can’t get your pen supported in most states.

I can’t really blame Organa Labs, as this day and age it seems common, that once a company gets a large enough customer base and build a name for themselves, they no longer strive to meet high level customer service. Sorry for the tardy reply but I can’t argue with your last sentence. OL is enjoying their day in the sun as we speak but karma can be a fickle bitch.
I have to ask: is anyone having good luck with their pens and cartridges lately?

You guys I solved the mysterious charged battery with no hit. Unscrew the cartridge and on the battery half look at the metal contact ring it might look brown or some weird dirty color. All you have to do is take a q tip and 91% rubbing alcohol and spin it in the threading and the contacts of the pen battery you might even find it necessary to scrape with a paperclip or knife tip. Pretty much I think somehow from using the pen a lot it leaks out there and causes the contact to become intermittent.

I’m getting really irritated by the fact that I’m paying so much for these varieties that leak oil everywhere…..I’ve had four cartridges do it already!!!

I love my O-pen vape. My “problem” is that I can smoke up 500 mg in a coupla-three evenings of use. At $35 per cartridge this makes smoking a lot more expensive than the good bud I can buy for $150-$200/ounce.
If I use my PAX vape I usually toke through about four oven loads an evening.
I prefer the pen vape but it sure seems spendy to me.
Or am I not using it properly?

I like the O.pen I just wish they could get the pg/liquid thc mix right so that it didnt clog or burn the wick so easily or do smaller amounts and sell multi packs, it also seems to take a lot more work to get were i need to be thn tirating a joint or water pipe….l will say it totally helps my chronic fatigue a lot more then anything else but thats all co2 hash.

I, too, am having problems with my O.pen, which I *LOVED* for the first few weeks, but which now is causing frustration.
1. I’m having trouble charging it — that is, trouble:
(a) knowing that it needs to be charged;
(b) knowing that it’s charging, when plugged in; and
(c) knowing that charging has completed.
I have the version with the white lights circling the lower tip.
(a) According to the web site, the lights are supposed to blink when the battery needs charging. I’ve never seen that happen. The only way I know it needs charging is that after I take a hit, I notice I’m not getting high. (That said, it may also be that I’ve encountered the occasional faulty cartridge. It’s difficult to tell.)
(b) I find that when I plug the battery into a USB charger, the battery’s weight causes the pen to “droop” slightly below horizontal — which causes the light to change colors from green to red. It’s so “sensitive” to its positioning that I’m actually often unsure whether it’s charging (e.g., Is the “drooped”position the correct position? Or when I lift the pen — by barely a millimeter — which causes the lights to change, is *that* the correct position? I can’t really tell).
Also the white lights at the bottom will blink, depending upon the position of the pen while charging. When they blink a few times, that supposedly indicates that it needs charging. But if it’s already PLUGGED IN, does that mean it’s then charging? Or when I let the pen rest naturally, and the lights STOP blinking, is that the proper position for charging?
None of the lights seems accurate, consistent, or reliable.
I tend to end up leaving it plugged in for many hours (sometimes propped up to horizontal and sometimes not), and more often than not, it ends up charging.
(c) Finally, I can’t reliably tell when charging has completed. I know — there’s green light on the charging dongle. But sometimes it’s green, but the slightest bump on the pen will make it turn red again. Or vice-versa.
I’m growing increasingly frustrated with a product that I truly loved for the first few weeks.

My wife and I each got a pen….love them! One thing we were wondering if stopped could they be detected by a drug dog? We are both medical card holders, so it is legal for us to have them.

I was wondering if anyone has brought their O.Pen through customs and had any concerns or problems with TSA? In going on a vacay in a couple weeks and wanted to bring mine.

Wow, no activity here for the better part of a year. I’m a new user (due to kidney stones, yay!) and was recommended the o.pen vape by a local (San Jose) dispensary. The cartridge is a Bhang Stick (hybrid) which claims to work with most pens, and has no glycol or other cutting agents. I’ve had no problems with leaks or with the pen. I can’t compare this to anything else since I’m new to this whole thing, but it’s been working well, is certainly discrete, and hasn’t been harsh to my mostly virgin throat/lungs.

I from CO and had several cartridges. Of the 20 or so I’ve been through with my partner, there have been 2 or 3 that have had that “plastic” taste, only one I couldn’t handle and had to take back. Currently the one I’m vaping now (Great White Shark; Indica; 250mg) has it as well.
Is it the wick packed too tight and not getting enough glycerin/glycol soaked through? Does that cause the battery to burn a dry wick? Not sure what the wicks are made from but I’m no stranger to the inner workings of a vape pen, having a couple modded ones myself for Nicotine. What are your wicks made from?
I don’t have a car because we’re a 1 car family, so it makes getting a replacement more of a hassle during the times my partner is at work.
Just trying to brainstorm the plastic taste. I can see I’m not the only one to get it.

O.pen lights up for 5 seconds then turns off. Charged it quite a bit, it’s just not working. I love the fact I can exchange it for a different one no questions asked, but the place is 40 minutes away. I’m paranoid at this point I’ll take the trip only to get another dysfunctional pen. Does this happen often?
