Mixing Up The Medicine

The sauce that made Cleveland famous.

Before we get going, I should tell you that this review might be slightly biased. I’m predisposed to like OrganaLabs’ extracts. It’s their Honey Oil I chose to activate “Pot Sauce Williams BBQ Sauce.” The competition wasn’t close. You may have heard about the fabled condiment. It received an ungodly amount of free publicity. The fun began with this article:

You may have heard about Pot Sauce Williams BBQ Sauce, but I know you haven’t tasted it. I know because the tangy preparation has never had a production run. It’s the edibles equivalent of vaporware. Yet Googling “Pot Sauce Williams” still turns up 50,000 search reports.

What happened? Suffice it to say that the pot sauce has stalled since some of the younger Williams clan view the transition from hot sauce to pot sauce as timely, opportunistic, and progressive . . . while at least one elder feels the idea sullies the family’s good name earned after four decades of selling god knows how many ribs in Grohio.

But Grohians can’t taste-test edibles from Cannarado. Enter yours truly, who can. It’s a long story how I fell into my unanticipated role as designated culinary formulator. I’ll tell it at some point, as “Mixing Up The Medicine: The Sensational Saga of Pot Sauce Williams.”

I’m bringing this up to disclose that I’ve met the OrganaLabs players, and I’ve visited their operations several times. My reaction: there’s not much I’d put past chemist Matt Ellis or the husband/wife ownership team of Ralph and Heidi Morgan. They’re talented. They’re innovative. They care about what they’re doing. They have enough cannabucks to do it right.

Now you know that I’m slightly prejudiced. But I’m certainly not any more prejudiced than a movie critic who liked a certain director’s last movie or a certain actor’s last performance.

There’s more to disclose.

Evergreen Apothecary, also owned by the Morgans, is my official State of Colorado caregiver. However, just because I like the Morgans’ dispensary, their buds, and their chemistry, it’s not a foregone conclusion that I’ll give up smoking joints in favor of a blunt-sized metallic object with a rechargeable battery.

Oh, and I’ve also tried OrganaLabs’ canna salves and Cannatabs [10 mg doses in pill form], and thought they were great. That’s a good lead in for . . .
